Key Concept Week 5

You and a group of former classmates are planning a reunion weekend after 5 years of graduating from the University of Liverpool. You all now live in different countries. You have decided to meet in Liverpool in 5 weeks’ time. Each one of you is responsible for making your own travel and accommodation arrangements. While you have not made any specific plans of activities for the weekend, you have mandated a member of the team, John, to make enquiries and present them when you all meet. You plan to meet at the University of Liverpool student bar at 2 p.m. on a Friday to begin the reunion weekend. In this Exercise, you will conduct an FMEA analysis based on the information presented, to identify things that could go wrong with the reunion plans.
To prepare for this Key Concept Exercise:
- Read the Required Learning Resources for Week 5.
- Reflect on how the topic relates to your own professional practice.
To complete this Key Concept Exercise:
Prepare a report discussing the results of the FMEA analysis that you have conducted on the reunion scenario presented above. Within your report, identify at least 10 things that could go wrong with your plans and calculate a risk priority number (RPN) for each of them. Once you have calculated an RPN for each, select the four activities that have the highest RPN and identify any improvement actions you can take and then recalculate the RPN for these. What impact, if any, have your improvement actions had on the RPN? (500 words)
- By Day 3, submit your Key Concept Exercise.
- Be sure to read over your Key Concept Exercise before submitting it to your Instructor. Make sure the spelling and grammar are correct and the language, citing and referencing you use when providing your opinion are appropriate for academic writing.
