AIP Funding of Airports - The AIP provides federal funding through the Aviation Trust Fund for qualified planning, acquisition, and construction projects to every airport in NPIAS. Some have argued that this money is wasted on many airports and projects, while many airports in dire need to infrastructure improvements go without.
