In each part you will clearly define and compare and contrast each of the theories posed. You will dedicate a minimum of three typed pages for each part, each distinguished by a header at the top of the page. All three parts will be turned in as one single core assessment. A minimum of nine academic sources must be cited which may include your text book. Please follow the rules for typed papers outlined below. A minimum of nine typed pages required for the complete assessment assignment. The three individual parts are as follows: APA FORMAT
• Part 1: Define Emile Durkheim’s concept of organic and mechanical solidarity. How do these concepts compare or apply to Marx’s perspective on the relationship between property, division of labor and consciousness. Define and compare contrast Marx’s concept of alienation with Durkheim’s concept of anomie.
• Part 2: What are some of the essential differences between Weber’s view of
religion and Durkheim’s? Which view better explains the role of religion in
contemporary life?
• Part 3: Compare and Contrast Simmel’s notion of the stranger and Du Bois’s
concept of the “double consciousness”. Explain Weber’s distinction between
status and class in the context of Du Bois work. Is race merely a status?
Explain how so or why not.
